News from New Member, Chuck Greaves: "Bloomsbury, the venerable British publishing house, has announced the nine titles selected to launch their new Bloomsbury Circus imprint in the UK. Among the chosen novels is HARD TWISTED, from RMMWA member Chuck Greaves. HARD TWISTED, the fictional account of a Depression-era true crime set in the American Southwest, has been described by Steinbeck Award-winning author Pinckney Benedict as "the perfect amalgam of Cormac McCarthy and Jim Thompson: violent, hilarious, and as bracing and painful as the blow of a dog quirt across the face." It was named Best Historical Novel in the SouthWest Writers' 2010 annual writing contest, and it will be in bookstores worldwide in November."

R. T. Lawton's latest short story, "Labor Day," AHMM October 2011 issue, is
fifth in the Holiday Burglars series. Yarnell and Beaumont have successfully
burgled a top floor condo in an old building and are trying to quietly
depart with the loot. Unfortunately, their ancient get-away elevator
keeps descending slower and s-l-o-w-e-r, while a pregnant passenger
can't wait. Now, the closest help onboard for medical services may
be The Thin Guy, their burglar protégé who used to work as a mortician.
